    One question. Why would you do the color change in post rather than in render? Isn't it looking better if you do it in real?

    • @YouAndMeAcademy
      @YouAndMeAcademy 14 днів тому

      Excellent question. The short answer is changing the colors in CG vs Comp will be EXACTLY the same if done correctly. The long answer is the benefit of switch the colors in comp is huge. 1. What happens if the client last minute wants it to be blue instead of red? Now you have to go back into CG, wait for render and comp it again. On the other hand, if you have rendered out all your passes and reassembled it in comp you can easily color correct the diffuse to make it blue. 2. You have light years more control of your 3D in comp then you ever will in C4D. Almost 10 out of 10 times comping your CG will make it look better. I always recommend comping your CG. 3. By taking the extra time to properly setup your 3D in comp you will end up saving yourself so much precious time because any change will require everything mentioned in #1. The moral is to always comp your CG if you have the time, it’s always worth the time investment! 💪💪💪

    Nice video, but since I'm a newbie user in Cinema 4D and I'm using Vray to follow along, I couldn't find the "color user data" node equivalent in said render engine. I have various objects that I want to flicker but as soon as I apply the Vray light material, the random field noise animation gets overridden, just like in your instruction video. Help would be appreciated. Cheers.

    • @YouAndMeAcademy
      @YouAndMeAcademy 17 днів тому

      If I am understanding your question correctly, I simply have the mirror on its own layer and then I just turned on the render visibility in the layer panel.

    I see that you have the keyboard at an angle. Do you move the object around the camera when animating or do you move the camera around the object? For me as a videographer I always move the camera around the object but wanted to get your thoughts, does that translate over to 3D?

    • @YouAndMeAcademy
      @YouAndMeAcademy 23 дні тому

      It depends, but my general rule of thumb is keep the product more static that way it stays lit by your lights. If you start moving the product, eventually it will fall out of the light. I also always try to keep whatever I am lighting as close to 0 world space as possible, just makes like easier.

      It’s all a matter of preference. You can do this in any render engine, they all are mostly the same. Just like giving someone a Nikon vs Canon camera, they both can take great pictures, but it’s up to the user to make it happen.

    this is amazing, how differnt is this to the new toon shader in RS currently?

    • @YouAndMeAcademy
      @YouAndMeAcademy Місяць тому

      "Thanks for the question! We created this before RS Toon was even announced so it relies mainly on a network of OSL shaders and mini setups we created with a custom UI interface only in Xpresso. You link a light into the shader (hence xrpesso nodes only) and it uses the direction for lighting. The three biggest differences are 1. the Halftone Pattern section we created. RS Toon has a node called "Tonemap Pattern" which does the same thing. However ours allows for any custom input, RS Toon (hopefully will eventually). Meaning you can bring in any image you want to create a pattern, your own sketchy lines, markers, squiggly shading, watercolor textures, paint, you name it - you can use it with YMA Toon. 2. YMA Toon comes with 30 presets to drag and drop ready to modify and use out of the box 3. Also we would say the RS Toon outline is stronger since it was coded from the ground up. So honestly mix and matching the two isn't such a bad idea!"
